Two Story Acceptances and a New Release!

It’s been a big week for announcements!

After a bit of a publishing dry spell, it has started to pour! Or maybe I should say snow, since we are under a winter storm warning here in Ohio! But as the drifts are piling up outside, the acceptances are starting to come in.

Earlier this week, I received word from Blood Song Books that they have accepted my Micro Fiction piece “The Crystal and the Crone” for their upcoming anthology Curses & Cauldrons. This first volume in their Tiny Tales Trilogy will be themed around witches. Not only was this my first acceptance of 2019, but also my first attempt at writing a drabble (a 100-word story). This was quite the challenge, but a fun one, and I see more drabbles in my future. The publication date for Curses & Cauldrons is still to be announced.

I was also contacted this week by Blooming Dark with the news that they have accepted my short story “Hope Furnace”. This is a speculative piece of dark fiction set in an actual location near my old home and loosely based on the local legend surrounding the area. Blooming Dark will be producing this story as a narrated video. This will be a new experience in publishing for me and I am excited to see this project come together. The publication date is tentatively scheduled for April.

And last but not least, I am honored for my short story “The Clock Struck Twelve”, voted best story in the Fireburst anthology by readers, to now also be included in Gold: The Best from Clarendon House Anthologies Volume One 2017/2018. This anthology includes all of the winning stories from the previous Clarendon House anthologies as well as a number of other select stories that stood out as exceptional storytelling. Gold is now available in paperback and Kindle editions. Find out more here:

What now? As for me, I’ll be keeping cozy indoors with the family for the rest of the weekend while the winds blow and snow continues to fall. And with any luck, maybe I’ll get a little writing done too.

Happy New Year, friends! Wishing you all the best!
